We love our producers, suppliers and vendors and we think most of them have some pretty interesting stories behind their products too. We’re sharing some of our favorites here in an ongoing series.

When life gets busy and the frozen foods aisle beckons, EVOL Foods founder Phil Anson sees no reason to put your priorities on ice.
EVOL burritos, pizzas, flatbreads and entrées are made with meats from US family farms that pledge not to use antibiotics or growth hormones, including beef and pork from Niman Ranch, eggs from Wilcox Family Farms, and cheeses made with milk from cows not treated with rBGH.

“Every ingredient we use is carefully chosen. We named our company EVOL, or ‘LOVE’ backwards, because our mission is about looking in the mirror and seeing the way we eat and live,” Phil explains. “We’re bringing optimism to the frozen foods section. Our mission is to inspire people to care about where food comes from and how it is produced.”
That mission influences everything they do, from purchasing wind credits that offset energy usage to creating a unique compostable bowl made from pressed straw grass.

EVOL also supports the Growe Foundation, which creates opportunities for kids to learn about healthy eating and the environment, through monetary donations and hundreds of volunteer hours each year.
“We infuse fun and love into our company, our culture, our products and everything we do,” Phil says. “Our foods fulfill the need for convenience, but we also want to be part of a food revolution where people reconnect with farmers and the sources of the foods they eat.”
