Late July Organic Snacks

By Elizabeth Smith, August 14, 2012  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Elizabeth Smith

At Whole Foods Market®, we love sharing good food and drink. Whether it’s a peak-of-the-season berry, a team member creation from our bakery, sausages made in house or a new grocery discovery, we love celebrating great flavors and products. But we don’t just want to tell you about it; we want you to enjoy it too. So, we’re doing a series of summer giveaways through mid-August. Read on to find out how to enter to win.

It might be mid-August, but it’s still time for Late July! Late July Organic Snacks is on a mission to educate people about organics through their taste buds. As a family owned and operated company, they care deeply about the integrity of their products – which all proudly wear the USDA organic seal! This means they meet USDA National Organic Standards requiring that the crops are grown without the use of persistent pesticides. Those standards also don't allow irradiation, genetically modified ingredients (GMOs) and synthetic preservatives.

If you’ve ever searched for snacks for the family that meet your standards, then you’ll understand what Late July Organic Snacks founder Nicole Bernard Dawes went through years ago when her kids were old enough to start snacking. That’s when she knew she had to take matters into her own hands and recreate classic crackers and cookies with organic ingredients and without hydrogenated oils or artificial additives.

With “family” at the forefront, Late July Organic Snacks was started to create a better, more responsible food system for her children and future generations. With help from her father, the founder of Cape Cod Potato Chips, Nicole worked to create delicious snacks without compromising on the quality of ingredients — snacks that lived up to her family’s standards and likely yours too!

Learn more about Late July Organic Snacks, Nicole and her family and their passion for great snack foods in this slideshow.

If you have problems viewing the slideshow, you can watch it on YouTube.

Family remains the primary focus at Late July Organic Snacks, and on any given day you can find three generations at work including Nicole’s eight-year-old and four-year-old sons. (They’re the perfect R&D team!) Impressively that strong sense of family also extends into the community. Late July Organic Snacks supports several nonprofit organizations through the sale of their products, including the Jane Goodall Institute, American Camp Association and Whole Planet Foundation.

Nicole views making food for other people’s families (like yours) an enormous responsibility. Perhaps that’s why we think your whole family will love their Mini Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches. You can sit back and enjoy organic peanut butter sandwiched between buttery-tasting organic mini crackers, without worrying about trans fats, artificial sweeteners, flavors, colors or preservatives – because there aren’t any! With values like those, their products can’t help but leave a great taste in your mouth.

What’s built up your appetite this summer? Tell us in the comments below by August 26 and we’ll pick a winner at random to receive a case of Late July Organic Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers.

The fine print: No purchase necessary. Promotion ends August 26, 2012, 11:59 PM CDT. Must be a legal resident of the US or Canada (except in Quebec, where it is void) age 18 or older to participate. Taxes on prize, if applicable, are the responsibility of the winner. Employees of Whole Foods Market, Inc., are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

I'm just starting to realize that not all food is created equal. Alot of items at the grocery store are not even real food. I would love to share this product with my family and give it a try. Thanks for bringing us a product that is "real."

What has built up our appetite this summer has been working in the gardens, veggie & flowers. Love to have a reason to get my hands dirty in the soil, with the promise of fresh vegetables and flowers on the table to enjoy. All the work is well worth it ! What a great energy boost your lil' peanut butter crackers would be, still have lot's of harvesting work to come. =)

I built up an appetite this summer working outdoors, 4 days a week, at a flea market. There is nothing like being outside in the fresh air and sunshine to make you crave something healthy to eat. Living in Maine, I have access to wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables from the many organic farms we have and they provide us with so many healthy choices. ps I am a big fan of Vanilla Bean with Green Tea Cookies and just recently tried the Dude Ranch and Mild Green Mojo chips - yumm!!!

My 4 year old and 2 year old basically lives off peanut butter. Banging my head to find alternative healthy foods that they will like has become almost a part-time job/adventure. I think Late July Organic snacks, like the Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers could help bridge the gap between what I think they should eat and what they will actually eat!

Whole Foods' fresh and vibrant produce section builds up my appetite like nothing else. I always bring along my shopping list, but strolling through the fruit and veggie aisle and spotting the in-season local and organic offerings always inspires me! On my last trip, the avocados, fresh cilantro, serrano peppers, bright red onions, and bag of limes in your citrus section begged to come home and mingle into a fresh guacamole dip to enjoy with tortillas or on a homemade burrito, so your 365 organic black beans went right in my shopping cart too! A drizzle of 365 Mediterranean Olive Oil and pinch of pink Himalayan salt, and that cool guacamole was like a walk in a garden! : )
