Tell Us Your Recipe for Romance

They say the way to a lover’s heart is through the stomach, and while that looks unappetizing in print, we know it’s true. Would your sweetheart be by your side if you’d plunked down a frozen burrito on your first let’s-do-dinner-at-my-place? Didn't think so.

Looking to sway cupid in the kitchen? We recommend this gorgeous Peppered Steak with Mushrooms, Seafood Risotto, Chicken Marengo or Romantic Rice Bowl, finished off with our ever-popular Flourless Chocolate Cake or Red Wine Strawberries and Cream. Warning: the aforementioned recipes could all lead to swooning — or spooning.

Cooking with my significant other on Valentine's day last year was more romantic than any meal I could have cooked on my own. We made a huge, fresh Mexican fiesta and had margaritas together throughout the whole night!

Food can bring people together and cooking in the kitchen can be the perfect way for two people to bond. My and my spouse have been cooking together for quite some time. I cook for her and she cooks for me and well most times we find it more enjoyable to cook together. The dishes vary, but I'd say we both make a great pasta dish together.

I once made a disaster known as cranberry Brie quesadilla. I used fresh cranberries that never cooked down, so, as you can imagine, they were rocks. My boyfriend at the time (now husband) ate every last bite, despite my persistence for him to throw it away. Although I will never live that dinner down, that is love.

I love starting the meal off with a light appetizer. I make my hubby something like seared bay scallops in a white wine sauce with truffle salt seasoned asparagus. It's so fresh and decadent!

Expect respect, don't settle for less. Also give it when it is deserved. No romance without it.

I am not a good cook, and I rarely cook for myself, but I decided to cook something that my boyfriend will love. He likes pasta and creamy sauces, so I cooked my first ever Chicken Marsala with fettuccine pasta, and for dessert, I baked a red velvet cupcake, he still remembers that dish to this date and compliments me =))

My partner appreciates a warm, simple and wholesome meal that is nourishing, comes from the most ethical sources, is something that we can share and brings us closer together through appreciating our healthy lives together. A meal that is a favorite that I make for the two of us is a mushroom, udon and tofu miso soup. For our sweet tooths, warm vegan berry muffins with vanilla coconut ice-cream! Hits the right spot every time!

I cook for love almost every day - my hubby works very long days, so I really like to surprise him when he comes home with one of his favourite meals! They range from homemade butternut squash raviolli with basil pesto to simple but so delicious homemade chili.

Im not an astounding cook but the love if my life loves mushroom pizza. I made her a pizza with everything from scratch but the pizza didn't want to cooperate and stay round. Instead I had to modify to a heart shape and it worked like a charm!

One of the ways I won my husbands love started with my cooking for him after we first met. Our first meal was a simple broccoli chicken dish and fresh salad. I made it romantic by having a candle lit table along with his favorite wine. I went even further by making a decadent crème brûlée for dessert that melted his heart even more. It is so true "The way to a mans heart is through his stomach." Well it surly was regarding mine and still is after twenty-one years of marriage and candle lit dinners. Using recipes shown through Whole Foods helps me to keep the fire burning along with the tools to stimulate my joy in cooking.

The ultimate romantic meal I prepared to win the love of my life started with fresh oyster on half shells, and I opened each one of them on my own. The nice guy at Whole Foods offered to open them for me, but I know it's going to be more fresh so I did it right before serving. With a splash of lemon juice and hot sauce, it was the magic starter. Next course was a simple mixed green salad topped with raspberries and a homemade Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette. Entree was a gorgeous black pepper crusted filet mignon, served with blue cheese cream sauce and chives, on the side were mushrooms stuffed scallops and homemade French fries. Dessert was homemade Strawberry Sweetheart Macarons. I piped the strawberry macaron shells in heart shape and filled them with dark chocolate ganache. It was a sweet ending for me and my valentine! :) amy [at] utry [dot] it

Wanting so badly to impress the guy who would be become my best friend and now husband of 15 years I decided to start simple. On our first Valentines Day I decided to impress him with my baking prowess. I laboriously made warm, gooey and soft chocolate chip cookies in a super cute tin. In my very own scatter brained way I forgot to add the sugar to the recipe. He was so sweet that he ate the whole batch and didn't tell me about my mistake until years later. It did explain why he wanted to "give me a break," and buy the desert after that for a while.
