Tulips are really timeless, I can see how the great Tulip Mania could happen. Some people are not familiar with Tulip Mania, or how speculation about tulip prices nearly caused the demise of Holland in 1630. Although disputed, it has been widely reported that the Dutch were so impressed with tulips that they paid increasingly higher prices, until finally the speculation about these gorgeous flowers could not be sustained. The economy of Holland had become dependent on European speculation about these newly introduced flowers. Unfortunately, the speculation could not be sustained. Just as many cities struggle to revitalize their city centers, Holland could not maintain interests in their coveted flower.
