Forks Over Knives Advanced Screening Series

We’re so excited to let you know that, due to popular demand, the advance screenings of the groundbreaking new feature film Forks Over Knives will continue in the New Year. This film puts to the test the premise that food is medicine and presents compelling evidence suggesting that diseases like heart disease and diabetes can be prevented – and in many cases reversed – through a whole food, plant-based diet. Here’s the trailer:
The movie features Caldwell Esselstyn Jr., M.D., author of Reversing Heart Disease and member of the Whole Foods Market medical advisory board and T. Colin Campbell, PhD, author of The China Study. Healthy Eating partner Rip Esselstyn, author of the Engine 2 Diet, makes an appearance as well, and asserts why real men eat plants. This film is a powerful introduction to Whole Foods Market’s Health Starts Here education programs and supports our Engine 2 message of eating plantstrong™. You may recall that last fall, Engine 2’s Rip worked with Whole Foods Market Healthy Eating Specialists to host a series of pre-screening Forks Over Knives events in select cities around the country. Screening events took place in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Nashville, Chicago, Fort Collins, Portland, Seattle and Los Angeles. And, true to the spirit of Whole Foods Market, every event was different from the last, offering a unique experience for the audience and exposure to different Engine 2 recipes and Health Starts Here prepared food menu items at the pre-movie receptions. One thing remained consistent throughout all the screenings – enormous public interest and sold out events with waiting lists. Leading up to the nation-wide public release on March 11th, the Rip road-show with Whole Foods Market sponsored screenings of Forks Over Knives will continue.  Please join us if you’re close to any of these planned events!
  • January 12, Austin
  • January 18, St. Louis
  • January 19, Atlanta
  • January 27, Cleveland
  • February 8, Ann Arbor
  • February 13, Boston
Whole Foods Market screening events will continue in the spring in New York City, Washington DC, Toronto, Vancouver, Northern California, Florida, and more. Event RSVPs will become available within a few weeks of each scheduled screening and will be advertised on your local store's page on the Whole Foods Market web site as well as www.forksoverknives.com. Were you lucky enough to attend one of the early events? If so, what did you think?

This is music to my ears! I was diagnosed with a severe digestive condition called Intestinal Psuedo Obstruction. Western Medicine had no answer for it, so I ended up creating my own answer in the form of diet therapy and alternative medicine. Food is most definitely my medicine! A year ago I could barely choke down liquids and was facing a feeding tube. Now I can eat again and I am regaining my health. All because of food. I cannot wait to see the movie!! I created a blog to help inform and inspire others with my condition: http://mygutinstincts.blogspot.com I try to educate those around me about the importance of whole, organic food, but it is an uphill battle. Hopefully this movie will help. Thank you.

I can't wait. Just hope they keep adding more preview locations so I don't have to wait until March to see it, but either way, March can't come soon enough for everyone to view it!

whole food is the only way to go, food as medicine has been around for thousands of years, its just been all screwed up lately in this country. I went whole foods and have released over 77 pounds from me, so very easy and haven't take any prescription drugs in about a year thanks for doing this
