Kids World Party

Read on for a chance to win a 14-CD set from Putumayo’s Kids Playground series along with Kids World Party. Dan Storper is the CEO and Founder of Putumayo World Music. Kids World Party, a global medley of fun tunes from Trinidad to South Africa, launches the new Kids Party music series for Putumayo. Like the acclaimed Playground and Dreamland collections, Kids Party is sure to please adults too! With the release of World Playground in 1999, Putumayo Kids established its children’s music collections as passports to learning about the world’s cultures. Kids World Party marks a return to these global roots with 12 fun, danceable songs accompanied by a multilingual (English, Spanish, French, German), child-friendly booklet that explores how children worldwide celebrate special occasions. The CD comes enclosed in a new eco-friendly package without a plastic tray. Kids World Party also marks the start of a very special relationship with Amnesty International, in commemoration of the Noble Peace Prize-winning organization’s 50th anniversary, and continues a long Putumayo tradition of tying music and humanitarian work together in a seamless fashion. Fifty cents from the sale of each Kids World Party CD will go to Amnesty in support of their work to promote and protect human rights worldwide. A sampling of the artists featured on Kids World Party include famed Indian pop and Bollywood singer Lucky Ali, who contributes “Kitni Haseen Zindagi,” a song that celebrates life. South Africa’s Sharon Katz and The Peace Train, whom Nelson Mandela appointed as a Cultural Ambassador of the nation, has thrilled international audiences with the beats and harmonies of their music, and delights listeners with “Sanalwami.” The infectious “Afro-Cuban Funk” of Cuban-American band PALO! is heard on their song “Quimbombó” — the Spanish word for okra, a type of vegetable used to make stews in Louisiana, Cuba and Africa. Watch and hear a sample in this music video. Also featured on Kids World Party is bilingual (English-French) singer Will Stroet, an award-winning Canadian musician whose song “Le boogie à vélo” tells children that you can boogie even while riding a bike safely. U.S. musicians Tom Freund and Friends performs the participatory song “Freezedance” and fellow American Eric Bibb rounds out the collection with Jackie Wilson’s classic soul tune “Higher and Higher.” We think this CD is going to be the hit of your next kids’ party. In that light, what’s the best kids’ party you ever created or attended? Leave a comment below by July 26th for a chance to win a 14-CD collection from Putumayo Kids Playground series plus the newly released Kids World Party. That’s a lot of music! One comment will be selected randomly to win. Good luck!

As a preschool teacher, I use the Putumayo’s Kids Playground series for many different activities in the classroom. From soothing music at 'rest time' to cheerful music for Yoga at Circle Time to energic music for transitions (or for long, rainy days when we cannot go outside to the playground). These CDs are great for so many different activities with kids. I also value the exposure to different languages and instruments. Even though they may not know 'the words' to the songs, I will often hear my students singing along with a favorite track from a Kids Playground CD. We love them all!

The best birthday parties are the simple ones. Good food, good friends, fun music and a piñata! I would love this CD set not only for birthday parties and play dates but for in the car and at home. We like to groove when its clean up time or any time.

We had a Christmas party for 3 and 4 year olds last year that included making gingerbread men and putting them in the oven to bask while I told the story with "paper dolls". When the buzzer went off, the gingerbread men were gone! Rnlargedf versions of the little old man, woman, horse, etc. were on the wall and the children found them in sequence and the character "whispered" a message to me that indicated which way we should go. After we found the cookies and ate them, we went back to bounce cotton balls and jingle bells on a flannel bedsheet and sang "Jingle Bells". We had more refreshementws and sang other Chritmas songs together.

We just had gnome party for my 6-year-old. The guests made little "gnome homes" - terrariums with fresh moss and wee painted mushrooms. The cupcakes were toadstools too. We love Putumayo!

We had a tea party for my daughter's 8th birthday. We asked the guests to wear their Sunday best dresses. We served finger foods & tea cakes along with their pink lemonade aka "tea." Each of the girls got to take a tea cup and saucer home. All 8 of them were different.

I've been a long time fan of putumayo albums. And as a new mom I love that there are great children's choices. I'll definitely plan to add this to out collection. The best kid party I ever attended was for a friends daughter. There were lots of games and activities. My favorite one was where the kids made t-shirts for their parents using their hands to form the shape of a heart. Just so sweet.

We had a firetruck/firefighter themed party for my 3-year-old that was just awesome! We had the firetruck stop by (gave them a donation and they were happy to stop by and show the kids the gear and their waterhoses), had a jumpy house/slide in the shape of a firetruck, used fire safety coloring books in the gift bags and asked for donations for burned children instead of gifts. It was great!

My Husband and I threw a fabulous Artic Party for our daughters 1st birthday. I made snowflakes and hung them from the ceiling and put Fake snow around the house with an assortment of artic animals. W also had sandwiches cut into artic animal shapes, a goat cheese igloo with goat cheese and olive penguins,Walrus and polar bear cupcakes and pin the tusk on the walrus. Super fun and fantastic!

It is a beautiful gift to give your child, that there is a world out there, that is different from his or hers. Music is a great avenue to do this with because all kids love music.

May not sound like much, but the best kids' party I ever created was an impromptu dance party with my three children at home on a Friday night, after a week of grad school and day care. No money spent, but the most fun we all had. We danced to children's music until we fell out. Everyone went off to sleep without a fight :)
