New Putumayo: Acoustic Dreamland

Over the years, Putumayo Kids, which began in 1999, has released 20 CD collections to help introduce children to other cultures through fun music from around the world. Though best known for its fun, upbeat Playground series, Putumayo Kids has been quietly releasing albums that have become staples for parents to help their young children fall asleep. Surprisingly, parents have enjoyed these Dreamland CDs as much as their kids! They help just about anyone relax and wind down after the stresses of the day.
With Acoustic Dreamland, I wanted to bring together beautiful English-language songs recorded by some off my favorite performers of adult and children’s music. We’ve also included a mini-storybook featuring the lyrics of the song Dreamland that parents and children can read or sing along to. Written by Mary Chapin Carpenter and sung by Lucy Kaplansky, it’s a lovely tale of falling asleep and dreaming of distant places. I’ve tested these songs on my 5-year-old son and they have really helped him ease into sleep.
In addition to original songs, the collection also features songs written by James Taylor (You Can Close Your Eyes), Allman Brothers (Blue Sky) and Wilco (My Darling).

My girls love Dreamland-World Lullabies. They go to sleep to it every night. Of course they totally dig World Playground during the day. It would be wonderful to have another night time CD for them to listen to and enjoy just as much!

As I put my preschoolers to bed each night, I turn on a compilation of bedtime music they have had since they were babies. This would be a great way to add variety to the lullabies!

I enjoy classical selections to calm and end the evening. These cd's look wonderful, I have not heard of them before.

my twin boys fall asleep each night to music and i hear it through their monitor, it relaxes me after a long work day. James Taylor is my favorite artist and I listen to his CD's to relax.

I LOVE Putumayo!! A friend introduced me to your line several years ago. I often play these CD's on my classroom. I teach 2nd grade in a small rural community and it is a lovely way to share sounds from other cultures. This CD sounds like it would be perfect for winding down after recess. Too often kids are only exposed to current popular hits and aren't able to listen to music that is more appropriate for their little hearts and minds.

I enjoy listening to gentle,single or sometimes two instrumental music with a single voice. My Son is 20 now but when he was little, I could not find what I needed, so I sang "You Can Close Your Eyes" to him every night. I am delighted that, even now, he remembers every word and still enjoys hearing it. My son was and still is very active physically and mentally. He struggled with falling asleep, as I do. Singing to him was very helpful. A CD with beautiful songs such as this would be wonderful. I believe most people are not aware of the importance of helping children fall asleep gently and peacefully. Thanks for this opportunity and good luck with the sales.

"Sean Johnson and the Wild Lotus Band" provide great soothing (as well as invigorating) music that I listen to at work to help me tune out the distractions that keep me from being productive.

Hello,
I love listening to the following when falling asleep as it is beautiful relaxing music. I even managed to persuade my husband to listen to it one night (who usually likes it very quite to go to sleep) and even he fell asleep listening to it and commented the next day and how he had had a lovely sleep that night!

My grandson has great trouble falling asleep, even now at 10 years old. Playing this collection for him in the evening might help. It might just put the adults to sleep as well!

I am in the process of making a playlist of relaxing songs for the birth of our second child! How great these CD's would be to add to my playlist! I love Putamayo's recordings, truly fantastic!

We got Asian Dreamland from the library awhile ago and it's so great for settling our baby to sleep. It makes me and my husband sleepy too!

I keep making playlists with relaxing music I have in my iPod but about music, what I love the most is to discover new tunes.
And I've always dreamt about having a Putumayo CD (God only knows why I never bought one...)
