I love roasting chicken!I typically take some smashed garlic cloves, onion chunks, and whatever citrus I have on hand. Last time i used some over ripe clementines. It gave the stock and soup I made have a great flavour. I save so much money making stock with whole chickens and I don't have to worry about sketchy ingredients.

I cannot see how people can justify eating organic food and using plastic bags.

I was in the store at 1:00 PM and the chickens were already gone. Is ten per person really the right limit? This has happened to me before. What about those of us who work and can't get there first?

I hope you'll have this sale again. They sold out really really early because of the demand and I missed out. We started buying this chicken a few months ago and can't believe how much better it tastes! It's all we get now.

My wife visited the Reston, Virginia, store specifically to take advantage of this offer, but the chickens were nowhere to be found and the person she asked had no answers as to why. When I called, they said all the stores in the area had sold out very quickly and there were none to be had. Shouldn't the store have had a Plan B? Raincheck or somesuch? We are regular customers but made a special trip just for this.

The store website post says "There is a limit of 10 chickens per person. You know, we gotta have enough for everybody!" Too bad they didn't. We drove all the way from Lehi for this sale, but by 2:43 PM they were all out and wouldn't issue any rainchecks. How about saying "while supplies last" so we don't come so far for nothing? Not cool, Whole Foods.

@Betsy, Priscilla, Terry and Paige: We've passed along your feedback to our meat coordinator and he's checking into the supply issues. Can you let us know exactly which store you visited? (Terry, we got you at Reston.) Stay tuned...

I was at the store by noon and was told that all the "sale" chickens had sold out by 9:00. That doesn't really describe a "One Day" sale. The advertisement doesn't even say that quantities are limited, only that there will be a 10 bird limit. I was very disappointed to find that I was not able to take advantage of the sale. Apparently at selling out by 9:00, not many were able to take advantage of it.

@Paige Brady: In case you didn't get my email, we attempted to get the sale chicken at the Cottonwood Heights, Utah location and they were all out. We also tried the Sugarhouse store but they said they weren't doing the sale. Thanks for responding--hope it goes smoother next time.

Can't believe it... went to the Whole Foods in Arlington TX and the butcher tells me the chickens sold out by 4 pm. Way to go Whole Foods! You really missed the boat on this one. How about a limit of 2 maybe so you might have more happy customers instead of upset ones? :( Bryan Erwin

Access to outdoors is not the same as pastured, which is the most healthy animal. Chickens are omnivores, and eat grass and bugs mostly, which is what makes the chicken healthy. Who knows what is in the feed, even if it is organic? They might eat corn if it is available, but historically, I don't think chickens naturally eat corn.

The packaging on Free Range Chicken says "New Earth-Friendly Packaging," but I do not see a number on the packaging. Is it recyclable? Is it made of corn and compostable? What about the cottony/plastic thing that the chicken rests upon? Is that recyclable or compostable?
