Please help me give my ohana a lovely holiday. It would mean the most to see smiles and tears on their faces as they enjoy dinner with me. The Valentines in my life are my mother and grandmother. On October 23, 1996 my mother’s life long partner in crime passed away to cancer a week after my brother’s 14th birthday. My father was only 47 years old when he passed away from stage 4 Lung cancer that had rapidly developed. He went through one treatment of Chemo and Radiation, when they realized it would harm him more then anything. Within 6 weeks of diagnoses from around Mid-August my father passed away. Every year I know how special Valentine’s Day is to everyone and the two most important influential people in my life happen to be my mother and grandmother. Since my father’s passing when I was 11 I’ve taken the time to make my mother and grandmother a four – six course meal and I’m about to be 25 years old. I don’t date, because Valentine’s Day they’re my dates. I set the table with flowers, candles, and then music and food. Life is hard with a widowed parent, a grandmother whose rapidly dying because these horrible illnesses are taking the once strong person I knew. I always start with appetizers, a salad, or soup of some kind depending on the weather, main course, side dishes and desserts. This year will be the 14th Valentine’s Day my mother hasn’t been able to spend with her husband. It is my goal on this holiday to try and fill a void she is filling, though I know I can’t do that. With your help I can give my mother a lavish Valentine’s Day dinner, one she and my grandmother whose 84 almost 85 years old. She was born on March 7, 1926. I don’t know how much longer she will be alive, but I do know this will one they remember because I was able to pay for it all myself. My grandmother has Dementia, Parkins Disease and Alzheimers and so life in my house is chaotic.. I’m trying my hardest to be able to put together a special holiday for the two people who I love the most in this world and with your help I can achieve my goals to be able to afford a nice meal for them. I understand that if my grandmother won’t remember it, it’s something my mother and I would remember for a life time. This would be one present I’d be able to give without having to ask for money this year. Please help me give the two most influential people in my life a special day of rest, relaxation, food, and love! ------------------------------------- Just a side note from this whole contest for everyone whose made a comment this goes out to you. Love from me, to you and your families. I wish everyone a happy and safe Valentines Day. Each story you ALL 1,739 comments that have been written touched me in many ways. I can see how special people are and what your ohana means to you. I wish you all a great holiday that you can bring more love into your families, and I can see how many people are loved all over the world. I hope you're able to spend it with family and friends, and don't forget the less fortunate, maybe go out and do something for someone else as well as someone you truly love. Happy Valentine's Day - Someone whose always single on Valentine's Day Mandie

My husband is such a special Valentine because there is nothing like having to remind him of Valentine's day with an evil glare. But really he is a wonderful man he has supported me through my growing business, helps me with the kids, cooks, cleans, works, so I guess I should cut him some slack on not remembering Valentine's Day. I love you sweety!

My mother, Ann, is my Valentine. Looking back over the years and even now, she consistently gives her unconditional love. I have a fabulous husband but I will never put anyone before my mother. Through thick and thin, she has always been there for me. You can always replace a boyfriend and/or spouse but you can NEVER replace a mother. We have a special bond that no one can break. I can always count on her honest criticism and advise. Not only is she loving to her children and grandchildren but to those who know her as well. She visits her friends in nursing homes, volunteers in her community several days a week and delivers leftover meals to her neighbors. She's one of a kind and I love her!

Max is my special valentine. He has stuck with me through thick and thin. He knows all my secrets. He likes to spoon. And his eyes always light up when I enter the room. When I kiss him on top of his head, he purrs.

After 36 years my husband still makes me laugh and has that special sparkle in his eye. He shares his joy of life and he encourages me in everything I do. I will be toasting him with the wine glasses from our first Valentine's Day together and expect to do the same for many years to come.

My sweetie of almost 30 years has been traveling down the road of foodie adventures with me. This will be our first gluten free valentines day and it will be special! Food has always been one of the things that always makes a day special for us and being healthier and feeling good sure is a bonus!

My mom is my Valentine! She suffered a massive stroke as the result of a car accident. Mom kept her lovely personality and cute humor even after being left with some brain damage. She has worked with therapists to defy the odds and can walk, play the piano and even climb the stairs to my home now for Sunday dinner. Mom was my inspiration for starting my own small business this year. She has shown me that you can do anything you REALLY want to. Lots of love and adoration from our friends have also encouraged us both. We enjoy every day that we are able to spend together. I love my mom, my valentine!

Valentine Day is special for my boyfriend and I because it celebrates another year of love and friendship. He is my best friend and we share everything. The beauty of the flowers and the delicious meal he cooks allows us both to stop and take time to really appreciate how far we've come and plan for what comes next!

My husband & I have been married for over 38 years. With the exceptions of a few layoffs, he has worked to support our family. He has travelled out of MA to work....as far as Alaska. The past twenty years, he has worked in Boston and gets up almost every morning at 4:30 am to start his day.... and never complains about it. I think that makes him special.

I am a lucky women! I have three valentines. My husband, daughter and son. The valentine that lives for Nature's path is my daughter. When she was little I bought the toaster pastries. Since that time she will only eat Nature's Path! She's six and is my organic little angle. She can taste the quality in foods. This basket would be a little bit of heaven. She might even share some with her daddy and baby brother!
