Thanks to Jimmy Dunne, President of Inspire — a music and branding company partnering on music initiatives with Whole Foods Market — for providing this blog post. As you’re navigating through the glitter, glam, and superheroes this back-to-school season, you’re bound to get a little nostalgic of your own childhood.  We want to help you embrace the memories with three fantastic new albums that harken back to a different age… Read on for an opportunity to win a gift bag of all three CDs! Sting - Symphonicities Sting has finally produced an orchestrated album, performing the greatest hits from both The Police and the solo eras.  His long-awaited collaboration with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is breathtakingly cinematic— yet buoyant —with the same classic energy that has resounded from him since the Police first stole the stage in 1978. Sheryl Crow - 100 Miles From Memphis Sheryl Crow has tapped into her soulful roots and produced an album of all new music that sounds like it’s straight from the 70’s.  It’s stacked with surprises— including Justin Timberlake’s vocal colors on “Sign Your Name” and Keith Richards’ signature riffing on “Eye to Eye.” 100 Miles is a truly entertaining, summer-glinted treat. Marc Cohn - Listening Booth: 1970 A timeless voice covers the most lasting songs from a “pivotal year in music:” 1970.  Simon and Garfunkel’s “Only Living Boy in New York”; Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed”; John Lennon’s “Look At Me”; all collide in an album that’s ripe with treasured moments. Treat yourself with your own little end-of-summer goodie— all three of these CDs are available in our stores now. So, who were you listening to in high school? The Police, Sting (solo), Sheryl Crow, Marc Cohn or someone else entirely? Tell us in the comments below, and we’ll select five random winners to receive a gift bag of all three of these new CDs. Enter your comment by August 18th! Jimmy Dunne is President of Inspire and a Grammy-nominated songwriter, TV and film composer, and television writer and producer; with songs that have been recorded on 27,000,000 records worldwide and garnered a number of CMA, ACMA, Juno, and BMI and ASCAP songwriter awards and multi-platinum Billboard recognitions.

I grew up listening to classical music. Played in the school orchestra. Fondly remember playing Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Symphony # 40, Beethoven's First, Chabrier's Espana, Hanson's "Romantic" Symphony. In jr. hi, orchestra teacher was concertmaster of San Diego Symphony. We played a little piece he had written called "Little Suite Antique." Mr. Kolar told us he thought about calling it "Little Suite Obsolete," but decided not to because someone may agree with that title. In music appreciation class, it was much easier for teacher to ask me to bring in recordings than go to library to find them. I brought in quite a few LPs. Those were the days, my friends!

I was really into bratty, self-indulgent pop-punk: the Bouncing Souls, NOFX, Saves the Day... I was also into lots of classic female rock vocalists like Debbie Harry, Pat Benatar, Aretha Franklin. Quality home entertainment. :)

The police, the police, and more police. I was in love with Sting and still enjoy him to this day. Sheryl Crow is not too shabby but I found her later in life. H
