Join Phil Gaven, owner of The Honey Exchange [1] located in Portland for a fun and lively presentation about honey bees, keeping bees and extraction. He will discuss and briefly demonstrate the equipment and investment in dollars, time, and education required for stewardship of a hive. The class will take students through a tour of the beekeeper's year and what is required as the season’s progress to ensure a healthy and thriving colony. Additionally, taste a variety of honey from around the country and get to see a real observation hive with bees (safely inside!).
