Thirty years ago the only goat cheese available in America was imported from France. About that time, Californian Mary Keehn had begun raising award-winning Alpine goats as a source for healthful milk for her kids, and found herself with a surplus. Experimenting on her kitchen stove, she discovered a flair for concocting cheese recipes. In 1983, Mary launched Cypress Grove with a range of cheeses, including the exceptional Humboldt Fog, becoming an American pioneer of artisan goat cheese.
