Whole Foods Market Westlake and our Team Members are dedicated to making our world a better place, and we are very proud of our commitment to community involvement. From product donations to sponsorships to our Community 5% Days to our Bag Refund Donation Program, we care about our community – and it shows.
In the past year, Whole Foods Market Westlake and our Team Members have not only donated money and food, but also time, passion and energy to local nonprofits that we care about. Some of these amazing organizations include Lifelong AIDS Alliance, PAWS, Seattle Children's PlayGarden, Youthcare, Youth in Focus, Operation Sack Lunch and Forterra.
Donations
Whole Foods Market Westlake has specific guidelines for the organizations we are able to support through donations. In addition to being a 501c3 nonprofit organization, you must have a mission statement that directly relates to one of the following categories:
- Hunger Relief
- Animal Welfare and Compassion
- Organic Farming & Sustainable Food Resources
- Environmental Conservation & Preservation
- Healthy Communities
To be considered for a donation, we require a minimum of 8 weeks advance notice. Because our donation budget is limited, we recommend submitting your application as far in advance as possible. In addition, please note that we are unable to donate catering, and we look for opportunities that offer the maximum amount of marketing return on investment.

Because we believe in being an active part of our community, requests from other civic and charitable groups will be considered if the organization is in the immediate vicinity of a store location, meets our core values, and funding available.
We do not donate to individuals, individuals seeking pledges, schools, multiple requests from the same organization or organizations and/or causes. Each approved organization is restricted to one donation per year from any and all Whole Foods Markets. Past support of an organization or an event is not a guarantee of future support.
Community 5% Days
Community 5% Days are another meaningful way we give back to our Puget Sound community. On designated days throughout the year, a total of 5% of the day’s net sales is donated to a local nonprofit organization. Guests help support these organizations just by shopping on Community 5% Day. If your organization would like to be considered as a Community 5% Day recipient, please request an application from Steph Parker, Marketing & Community Lead, at Stephanie.Parker@wholefoods.com
Bag Refund Donation Program
Here’s another great reason to bring your own bags when you shop at Whole Foods Market Westlake! You can choose to donate your 10 cent bag refund to one of our designated nonprofit recipients designated quarterly. Our current Bag Refund Donation Recipient is Skagitonians To Preserve Farmland. If your organization would like to be considered as a Bag Refund Donation recipient, please request an application from Steph Parker, Marketing & Community Lead, at Stephanie.Parker@wholefoods.com.
