Does your child love stories? Relax and engage your child’s imagination with a variety of fun books. Open to all ages, and especially for young ones and parents. We’ll also have some yummy treats on hand for you to enjoy as well as a fun activity.
Pet Food Pantry Drive for Five Acres Animal Shelter

During the months of July and August, we will be collecting dry and canned dog and puppy food for AniMeals, a pet food pantry at Five Acres Animal Shelter. This program is run completely by Five Acres volunteers with the goal of keeping people and their pets together, sometimes when they need each other the most. AniMeals feeds an average of 57 dogs and cats each month. To learn more about Five Acres or the AniMeals program, visit www.fiveacresanimalshelter.org.
Town and Country Crossing Movie Night at the Lake

Bring your family out for a free movie and free refreshments to Town and Country Crossing Plaza. The dates are June 21, July 19 and August 16. The names of the movies will be announced or go to www.townandcountrycrossing.com.
Father’s Day Writing Contest
Kids, last month we wanted you to tell us about your awesome moms. Well, this month we want you to write about your special dad. Write a letter or send an e-mail. The winning DAD will win a basket filled with gifts just for him! The letters are due by Friday, June 14. Drop off your letters at our Customer Service desk or submit them to diane.vanbooven@wholefoods.com. Don’t forget to include your phone number.

Story Hour with 5-Acres Animal Shelter

Five Acres Animal Shelter is in St. Charles County and has been helping dogs and cats find new homes since 1973. Come to this story hour to hear some stories about dogs and cats. One story even teaches small children how to pet animals nicely. At the end, all the kids will be able to pet either a cat or dog.

Diane loves birthday parties so…we are going to have a party for Whole Foods Market Town and Country’s 5th birthday! She is going to serve cheese pizza, fresh vegetables and fruit kabobs. To end the party, everyone is going to decorate their own cupcake and sing Happy Birthday to Whole Foods Market. When kids walk in the door, they will get a party hat to wear and party favor as well! Come celebrate with us!

Kids Club Garden

Make sure you stop by and check out our Kids Club Garden in the front of the store. We are growing red clover, gourmet lettuce, salad bowl lettuce, tomatoes and peppers. During the season, kids from our story hour will be able to sample the produce. At the end of the season, any produce left over will be donated to a local food bank.

3rd Annual Whole Foods Market Book Fair

Do you have any books that you don’t know what to do with? During the months of July and August, Whole Foods Market will be collecting new and gently used adult and children’s books for our 3rd annual book fair to be held on Saturday, Sept. 14. Drop off your books anytime during store hours in the container in our café area. All proceeds from the book fair will go to the St. Louis County Library Foundation’s Gift of Reading Program. This program provides new books each month for at risk preschoolers to encourage reading and literacy in the St. Louis area.

Story Hour with Amalyn Martin with Miles Against Melanoma

In 2010, Amalyn founded Miles Against Melanoma and has written a book called Max & Mila at the Beach. During this story hour, Amalyn is going to read her book to the kids and talk to them about protecting their skin from the sun. Afterwards, the kids are going to go to an imaginary beach, sit on a blanket and have some goldfish crackers along with lemonade and hot dogs! They will also make their own fruit kabob.
Wednesday, July 10 Mary Poppins is coming to Whole Foods Market!

During this story hour, Aaron is going to show the kids all of the things that are in a computer. Most kids use them, but have they ever seen the inside of one? They then will be able to try to put it back together, just like they would a puzzle. For a craft, the kids are going to design their own computer using crackers, bread slices and cream cheese!

Join Diane for story hour with some furry friends from the World Bird Sanctuary. The mission of World Bird Sanctuary is to preserve the earth’s biological diversity and to secure the future of threatened bird species in their natural environments. They work to fulfill this mission through education, propagation, field studies and rehabilitation.

RNA Recycling Event

RNA Worldwide Computer & Electronic Recycling will be holding a FREE electronics event for residents on Saturday, July 27, from 8am – 4pm. All electronic/metal items are accepted, including large appliances – if it plugs into a wall or runs off of batteries, RNA accepts it. They’ll even take used batteries, so bring those with you as well.
