Ten Things You’ll Love About the New Whole Foods Market Annapolis

by annapolis, April 20, 2009 | Permalink

  1. Parking is plentiful in our own parking garage under our store and access to the store is easy with an escalator, elevator and even a people mover that you can ride with your shopping cart.
  2. We’ve more than doubled in size from our store at the Annapolis Harbour Centre, but haven’t gotten so big that you will get lost in the aisles.
  3. Speaking of aisles, they are wide and long and easy to navigate.
  4. With all of our new space, we can bring in product lines we couldn’t carry before due to space constraints. So we’ll have a better selection for our customers in all departments.
  5. Our secret weapon is following us to the new store - our team members. Besides the familiar friendly faces you are used to we’re training some great new team members to serve you.
  6. Not sure about what to cook for dinner? How about grabbing something delicious from our Prepared Foods counter, expanded salad and hot bars, wood burning pizza oven, burger grill, sushi counter, crab shack or gelato station?
  7. Want a great place to sit and relax? Our new cafe with over 150 seats is just perfect for catching up with friends, a family dinner, or surfing on your laptop courtesy of free Wifi.  We’ll have talented local artists performing live every Wednesday night from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
  8. Our new state-of-the-art culinary school, The Culinary Center of Annapolis, will boast a full calendar of classes for cooks of all skill levels and ages.
  9. Is buying local important to you? Look no further than our produce area which will feature more local items than ever. But our love for local doesn’t stop in produce, more local producers will be featured in each department in the store.
  10. Love the freshest meat and seafood. We do too and that’s why you’ll love our new full service meat counter and expanded seafood offerings.

Hallelujah! The Whole Foods Gods have risen! I walked through the doors at 11:03-AM today, and what a shock! Sensory over load and took about 45 minutes to walk around the store. So, I did one more round and that was about 90 minutes. What a treat and thought the Sarasota store was the best I had seen in a while. Now, in the summer I have Annapolis, winter Sarasota. I too plan my cross country trips around Whole Foods from sea to shining sea and know most locations across the country. I have a thought, how about Whole Foods getting into the “Whole Fast Foods” business and having more than just fast food joints or truck stops to eat at when traveling Interstate Hwy’s? Thanks for the new store! Be well.

Just went there today (5/5) for the openning. Disappointed that the 50 lb. bags of flour on display were not for sale. Hoping that the store will have weekday activities for homeschool children who love to cook. Perhaps you can consider a tandum event with the wee kids activities on Wednesday. Also hoping there can be special recipe ideas for children. Packing lunches that are green and waste-free. Perhaps a discount at the beginning of the school year on reusable water bottles and ecologically minded sandwich and snack containers. Planting your own lunchbox garden, etc. Think what you can do for the future shoppers out there.

Me want Skyr. Going all the way to Annapolis just to get Skyr. Hope you have Skyr. Can’t get Skyr at California Whole Foods stores. That is a big problem!

  9. Donna Says:

I went into the new store 5/11 and I could not believe eyes. The store rocks. It is the biggest in the DC metro area. It is not only big but beautiful. The organizers did a fantastic job. The display of different foods was breath taking.
I can easily spend a whole day in this store.

  10. kathy straser Says:

When are you going to open a store in Delaware? Soon I hope.

  11. kathy straser Says:

Thanks Moomin. I’d forgotten about Skyr. I have to get some of that too. What I need to go to the store for now is new poison ivy relief for the year. Whole foods saved my life last year with the homeopathic section. Thanks

I am looking forward to visit the new store in Annapolis, MD but look forward even more to have Whole foods in Prince Georges County MD.
Bowie, MD would be great!!!! Any idea if at all possible?
    Thank you…

  13. Lynn Says:

I loooovvee the new store…It is fantastic..and the sales were enticing…
My only concern was the parking garage(s)…The underground parking was cause for concern if one is visiting later in the evening..A good crime spot if parking toward the rear of the lot.
But, all in all great!! I’m going there today

  14. Julia Nathan Says:

Yesterday was first visit to the new store in Annapolis, MD. We had dinner from the grill and ate in the cafe. The burgers were HUGE! Next time I might have to get the Junior burger.

Up until now I thought “In and Out Burger” in California was the best burger I’ve ever eaten.
The burger I had yesterday was as good if not better then the “In And Out Burger”.

The fries were darn good too!

  15. jamie foster, csw Says:

The Chop Chop Bar is saving me so much time and I am preparing incredible meals fast. Great job!

  16. Tim Says:

@Julia - tried the burger today on your reference to In-N-Out and I have to agree it is very VERY close. If they’d use regular onions instead of red and if they had that same sauce In-N-Out uses it’d be almost identical. Too bad the fries are nowhere in the same neighborhood and it took me so long to check out that my fries were soggy before I left the store. They really need to address the crowds during prime times especially in the express lanes. It is a terrific store - I’m very disappointed that there wasn’t an expansion of the sushi bar. The hot bars are expensive (7.99/lb) but you can’t beat the variety. I’ll be back for another burger for sure - I might ask if they can get me real onion instead of a red! :)

  17. sharon julius Says:

I love the pasta bar. After eating it I will never buy box pasta again. Love the new store.

  18. Bill Says:

I’ve noticed more vegan selections which is great! However, the full body pigs hanging on display in the meat area is something I now have to avoid. How about doing more to spread the word on vegetarian & vegan diets?

  19. Nicole Says:

Parking. The design of the store. Meat and Fish department. And the Bakery–Yum!! Pizza and culinary center! We go to WF weekly–love it!

  20. Pam Says:

I have to agree with Bill about the whole pigs hanging in the meat area. I was enjoying browsing the new store until I saw that gruesome sight, at which point I left feeling nauseated. I am a vegetarian who has no objections to others’ dietary preferences - but I think that hanging whole body pigs in plain view of all customers is unnecessary. The pigs did not escape my small children’s notice either. This isn’t something I would have chosen to show them, and I don’t think they’ll be asking for meat anytime soon. Aside from that, however, the store is beautiful.
