Intro to Arroyo

Outside Arroyo

Outside Arroyo

After being opened almost two years (November!), it just dawned on us that we should introduce our beautiful Arroyo location to all that are unfamiliar. And we can always spot the newcomers; the jaw drags across the floor as they look around with glee and wonderment.

We’re not bragging, believe me. We really do see this reaction. In fact, ask the team members about their original reaction upon entering the store for the first time. “I was overwhelmed,” says Whole Body Leslie. “Honestly, I thought it was nice, until I rode the escalator upstairs, and I was in awe. I couldn’t believe how big it was,” Lyle recounts. Other noted sound bites: “It reminded me of an airport”, “I just loved looking and thinking about all the yummy stuff in here!” It goes on and on.

But this post is to help you get around, and show you some shortcuts, treats, or hidden treasures you might (have) missed.

Let’s start outside. Many customers have told us they drove right by us, and didn’t see us. And we sometimes get phone alls about where to park. So the basics: We are on the Northwest corner of Arroyo Parkway and Bellevue. Bellevue is between California and Del Mar.

Our parking structure is underground (perfect to keep the sun off your car, and the rain!), which you can get to from Bellevue. I suggest, usually, skipping the first floor parking. The waiting and searching time can take a minute, so do yourself a favor and skip 1st floor, head to the second, and I can almost guarantee a closer spot to the elevators (or stairs) to take you up to the first floor.

So now you are heading upstairs, and the elevator opens to our entrance. Checkout the sign holders, as they will give you the latest coupons, sales, and notices of events (yes, we hold in-store events!).

Produce opens to all your senses. Depending on the season, you can pick-up the freshest, local, in-season produce right up front. There is no questioning what is eating good: we stack it high right in the beginning so you don’t have to guess. And take a look at our wet rack- it holds over 100 feet of local and organic greens, vegetables, and herbs.

But here is a secret not everyone takes advantage of: we LOVE sampling! Not just the samples already provided, but ask a team member about what is eating good, and they will gladly cut open the juiciest peach, crispest apple, or sweetest pineapple. And before you leave our produce section, check out the back wall for the “exotic” and interesting produce we might have in-stock. And again, ask a team member how they recommend eating it. We just love to talk food.

So we’re in… take a look around, taste a few samples, and get a massage! That’s right! Behind our produce department we have a massage chair ope from 12-8pm. Treat yourself before we go on… its only $7 for 5 minutes!

    Hi,
I visited your store on Sunday, for a gluten free lunch. I was disappointed to see that the hot food section did not have any protein available that was gluten free. Moreover, the rice crust pizza advertised in the hot food section was prepared using the same sauces and implements as the normal pizza. As it is completely cross contaminated, it is not something someone with celiac disease can eat. It would be great if you took the lead and had a gluten free hot food section, much like you have a gluten free frozen food section.
