Exciting Changes at Capitol Hill
by capitolhill, February 5, 2009 | Permalink
The Capitol Hill Whole Foods Market is about to start a remodel. We are so excited for the changes to come. Some of them you will not see like new floors behind the counters and new refrigeration compressors. Some changes you will see like a new bulk section, a customer service desk and a new olive bar.
We know there will be some inconveniences for you during the process and for that we sincerely apologize. We will do everything we can to make this process as smooth as we can for you. Keep your eye on this blog for the latest information.
Our crews will be putting in the new refrigeration compressors overnight starting on Monday, February 9th. The next morning we will need some time for the coolers to get cold enough before we can put the products back on the shelf. Because of this all of our dairy coolers, the prepared foods case, bakery and cheese cases as well as the salad and olive bars and the meat department will be shut down the morning of Tuesday, February 10th until about 2pm. These cases should reopen by mid afternoon the same day.
Thanks for your understanding during this process. When we are done you will have more products to choose from and a better, safer store to purchase them in.

Regarding the “Exciting Changes at Capital Hill”…I was in the Capital Hill store on Saturday and saw the changes for the first time (the walled off section for the carts, the large refrigerated cases for pre-made items in the deli, etc.). The changes made me sad. The store no longer has the small homey “corner store” feel it used to have. The changes, to me, make the store feel like just another supermarket, but with healthier food. I didn’t end up buying anything.

Debe,
Thanks for giving us this feedback. I am really sorry that this is your impression. It is really important to us to still be the Capitol hill’s neighborhood store. It is also really important to us to offer you the best quality food and the variety that this neighborhood has been asking for. I hope that once we are done with our changes you will give us another chance. We feel that it is the great Team Members and the personal customer service we give that makes us a neighborhood store. We will also be adding more classes to the calendar and having great neighborhood events like BBQ’s on the patio and book clubs in the cafe. We are still your neighborhood store. We are just now able to offer you all the great quality proudcts you are looking for as well. Thanks for letting us know and please keep letting us know how we are doing.
