partnership with Art Students League of Denver

by capitolhill, September 14, 2009 | Permalink

The Capitol Hill Whole Foods Market is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Art Students Legue of Denver.

Yesterday we launched our new Free Kids Club series lead by Art Student League of Denver teachers.  They will continue to lead our Kids Club art activity on the second Sunday of every month at 2pm.  Bring your children down to enjoy arts, crafts and snacks while you shop.

On Saturday, September 26th from 1pm-3pm we will have our first Demos and Dialogue class at the Capitol Hill Whole Foods Market.  Demos and Dialogues is a free series that the Art Student League of Denver has been doing at their studios and at Minnengers.  They will continue to do the series at those locations but will add the Capitol Hill Whole Foods Market to their locations.  During this series we will feature one local artist each month.  That artist will come in on the 4th Saturday of the month at 1pm and will do a demonstration of the style or media that they are known for.  They will then lead a Q&A lecture on that style or media.  This Saturday we will be featuring portrait and figure drawing with Andrea Kemp.  Andrea Kemp seeks to create “interesting, thought-provoking works of art” with an intelligent understanding of the subject matter. Kemp was featured in the article “21 Artists 31 and Under to Collect Now” in Southwest Art. Join Andrea for an introduction to portrait and figure drawing, exploring line quality, shapes, values and edges. Andrea will discuss her process, including composition, starting with a drawing and completing the painted piece.
