Chelsea FEED 100 Bag window project!

by chelsea, May 6, 2009 | Permalink

Have you noticed our 7th avenue windows? They are a collaboration between Whole Foods Market- Chelsea and our neighbors the  Fashion Institute of Technology. We teamed up in January to create a contest for 6th semester students to design garments using the FEED 100 bag.

The FEED 100 Bag  is a stylish gift that gives back - each bag purchased provides 100 nutritious meals to hungry schoolchildren in Rwanda through the UN World Food Programme.

Designed exclusively for Whole Foods Market, the FEED 100 reusable bag is made of organic cotton and natural burlap, and is produced with a commitment to ensuring fair treatment of workers, livable wages, overtime pay and safe, clean working environments.  This eco-friendly fashion statement is a lightweight, fresh white tote that collapses easily into its base.  Perfect to use for your groceries and for about 50 million other things, too!

For the next two weeks, buy a FEED 100 bag and receive 3 free deliveries! Details available at the customer service booth.

Whole Foods Market in New York City proudly presents:

Enlighten Up!

A Skeptics Journey into the World Of Yoga

Exclusive Engagement at the IFC Theatre

April 1st

2:50, 4:40, 6:30, 8:25, and 10:15

Filmmaker Kate Churchill is determined to prove that yoga can transform anyone. Nick Rosen is skeptical but agrees to be her guinea pig. Kate immerses Nick in yoga, and follows him around the world as he examines the good, the bad and the ugly of yoga. The two encounter celebrity yogis, true believers, kooks and world-renowned gurus. Tensions run high as Nick’s transformational progress lags and Kate’s plan crumbles. What unfolds and what they discover is not what they expected.

All five of the Whole Foods Markets in Manhattan (Bowery, Chelsea, Tribeca, Union Square, Columbus Circle) will co-present the afternoon and evening shows of Enlighten Up! on the opening day, April 1, 2009, at the IFC Center. We will be giving away free samples and everyone who goes to see the film can enter a free raffle giveaway for a bundle of Whole Food Market yoga goodies. Showtimes and advanced tickets will be available on Monday, March 30 online. Hope to see you at the movies!

Do you want to buy wine where you buy groceries?

by chelsea, March 21, 2009 | Permalink

Governor Paterson has proposed to allow the sale of wine in food stores throughout New York State.

A recent statewide poll shows that more than 70 percent of all New Yorkers support the idea of selling wine in food stores. The availability of wine in food stores provides greater convenience to consumers. It also supports the $1 billion a year wine and grape growing industry in New York, which, in turn, employs thousands of New Yorkers.  This proposal will provide $105 million this year to the state’s revenue fund - obviously important in this difficult budget year - and more than $150 million over a two year period.  And, all of this will happen without significant impact to the liquor stores throughout the state. This year — more than ever — it is time for wine.

Click here to send a message right now to your Assemblyman, State Senator and Governor Paterson.
