Local Food & Farm Tour: Quetzal Farm

Kevin McEnnis started the farm in Santa Rosa in 1999, giving it the name of the national bird of Guatemala, where he planted his first garden. Quetzal Farm (pronounced ket-sall) produces organic vegetables and fruit on seventeen acres in Santa Rosa and Occidental, California. Quetzal specializes in dry farmed tomatoes – a real treat. Join us to learn about this productive small farm and the magic of dry-farming. Spaces are limited and advance registration is required. Rubicon Bakery

11am, Oakland

Rubicon provides some of the fantastic cakes we sell in the bakery – like the wheat-free La Bête Noir and the classic chocolate cake.  Rubicon stands for more than fabulous desserts: they are part of a nonprofit organization, Rubicon Programs, that helps individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area overcome economic and social hurdles.  Rubicon provides training, housing, employment and support services to people in need. Learn more about this bakery that helps the community flourish – and taste some fantastic cakes!

Neve Roses

Join us on September 9 – we promise you a rose garden! Chris from Neve will give us a tour and show us where those beautiful local roses in our floral department come from. Join us for a tour of Frog Hollow at the height of peach season!

First Annual Whole Foods Mill Valley Dog Show

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Dog Day & Dog Show! All the wonderful dogs and people who came made it lovely, fun day. Many thanks to our judges - Michael from Pine Street Foundation, Michael from Felidae, and Camilla from Project Coyote - for taking on the impossible task of selecting the winners from the 50 dogs entered. Please visit the websites of the fantastic nonprofits they work for to learn more about the groups. (Project Coyote is currently a Nickels for Nonprofit recipeint at WFM Mill Valley - every time you bring in your own bag, you can choose to have a nickel donated to Project Coyote.) Thank you also to Max Perkoff for te great music.

Wondering about the great food you tasted?

  • Fieldroast and La Boulange provided the wonderful vegatarian sausages that the Marin Humane Society cooked up
  • MIchelle’s provided the fantastic vegan cookies that Pine Street Foundation had at their table
  • That awesome vegan chocolate cake with buttercream frosting at the Project Coyote table came from the bakery at Whole Foods Market in Mill Valley
