Fuel the brain with Omega-3’s

by oakville, August 26, 2009 | Permalink

Nutrition plays an important role in brain growth and potential.  Omega-3 fatty acids are primary components of brain tissue and are vital for brain development.  A diet rich in these fatty acids is essential for adults and children alike.  Additional benefits of omega-3 fatty acids include the promotion of heart and mental health.  Cold-water fish (salmon-tuna), are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids.  Eat smart to stay smart.  Check out our Norway Fresh Farm Raised Salmon on sale today.

Just Down the Road Goodness

Now in store fresh peaches from Niagara.  Bite into a perfectly ripened peach, and you join the millions who have enjoyed this juicy fruit since ancient times.

Shopping tips:

  • Look for skins showing a background colour of yellow or warm cream.   Pink or red blush on the cheeks depends on the variety and is not a reliable indicator of ripeness.
  • Choose plump, medium to large peaches with unwrinkled skins, and those that yield slightly to pressure along the seam, even if they may otherwise be firm.
  • Avoid undertones of green, which show the peaches were picked too soon and won’t ripen properly.
  • And, lastly, choose local whenever possible.
