These past couple of months has been very exciting here at our store. A very unique opportunity arose for us to form a partnership with a local volunteer organization called the Amani Children’s Foundation. This is a volunteer group birthed right here in Winston-Salem with the express purpose of serving infants, orphaned by AIDS, in Africa. Currently, Africa has the highest rate of orphans anywhere in the world, two million of which are in Kenya alone. By creating a partnership with Amani our customers and Team Members have had the opportunity to rescue these children from abandonment while providing a safe home and nourishment. Other than donations, Amani Beads are the main form of financial support for the foundation. Unique, handcrafted beads are created in Africa and shipped to Amani where local volunteers make them into necklaces. These necklaces are of very high quality and no two are alike. Exclusively at our store, you can purchase these necklaces and 100% of the proceeds from the sale go to Amani.
In addition to carrying these exclusive necklaces, on March 28 our store held a 5% day where 5% of our store sales were donated to Amani. Thanks to our customers and Team Members shopping that day, we raised a total amount of $2,700! It’s amazing to see how that supporting local we can reach global.
