Community Giving

Whole Foods Market Ann Arbor on Washtenaw Avenue accepts donation requests from all non-profits that have been designated 501c3 by the IRS. Please apply  using the Donation Request Form at least 12 weeks in advance of your event to allow for processing. All donation requests must be accompanied by a 501c3 letter from the IRS for the request to be moved forward for consideration. Please download and use our donation packet for all donation requests, including 5% Days and One Dime At A Time. Please give as much detail as possible. The Packet is also available at our Customer Service Desk.

5% Community Support Days

Our Community Support Days are just one way we give back to our community. On each Community Support Day, five percent of the days net sales is donated to a chosen not-for-profit organization. If your organization is interested in applying for a Community Support Day, please call  Marketing Specialist  Mary Ann Nisley at (734) 975-4500 to discuss the componenets of your proposal or you may download our 5% day application.

One Dime at a Time:

At Whole Foods Market, customers who reuse their grocery shopping bags receive a ten cent refund per bag.  You may keep the refund or donate it to a specified One Dime at a Time nonprofit organization. To donate, tell your cashier to apply your ten cent bag refund to the One Dime program. Our One Dime at a Time Recipient for January, February, and March, 2010, is Recycle Ann Arbor. Recycle Ann Arbor will be providing informative classes in our classroom. Please refer to our Calendar classroom listings for Februaryand March for more information on Recyle Ann Arbor.

Community Outreach

Whole Foods Market Ann Arbor on Washtenaw Avenue can provide a speaker for your organization’s upcoming meeting. Topics can be suited to your group’s interests. Recent talks have focused on healthy diet, exotic foods, vegetarianism, smart shopping, all about organics, and food safety practices for the home. What is your group interested in learning about? Community Partners

  • Huron River Watershed Council Partnership
    initiated with Tom’s of Maine to restore and maintain our local waterways. In 2001 Whole Foods Market and Tom’s of Maine began a five-year commitment to assist groups across the country in cleaning up their local watersheds. We help sponsor the Suds On the River fundraiser event yearly, and in 2011
  • Sponsorship of Performance Network 2011  Season
    The Ann Arbor store sponsors a number of local initiatives. Current sponsorships in addition to the Performance Network include the M-Fit Kitchens 2001-2002 Cooking Class Series, the Ann Arbor Velo Club Women’s Cycling Team, Pioneer High School Varsity Baseball and the Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Corporate Challenge Canoe Race.
  • Slow Food of Huron Valley-We partner with Slow Food to promote sustainable, locally grown and produced and support the Homegrown Festival and the Local Food Summit yearly
  • Food System Economic Partnership-We work as a partner with FSEP to further healthy eating in schools and the Farm to School program for Southeast Lower Michigan
  • Rudolph Steiner School-In 2011 we will again support the annual Holiday Bazaar at the school.
  • UM Transplant Center-We have partnered with UM Transplant Center for several years. In 2008 the Transplant Center was a 5% Day recipient. In 2011 we are sponsor of the Vita Redita fundraiser event which takes place on November 12, 2011 at Fox Hills in Plymouth, MI. Vita Redita has the reputation of being one  of the areas finest gala events.   • Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce-we are a supporting member of our Chamber of Commerce which is so important to promoting local businesses.
  • The Ann Arbor Summer Festival-in 2011 we were a major supporter of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival
  • The Ann Arbor Folk Festival-The Folk Festival is an important Ann Arbor event to support The ARK. We will be a major supporter again in 2012.
