Community Giving
At Whole Foods Market we give back to the community in many ways; from product donations, our Community 5% Day, Bag Donation Program, and finally Scrip! Please read on for more information on these programs.
Whole Foods Market has specific guidelines for the organizations we are able to support through donations. In addition to being a 501c3, you must fall into one of the following categories:
- Animal Welfare
- End Poverty
- Sustainable Seafood
- Advance Agriculture
- Healthy Communities
- Or education in these targeted areas
Because Whole Foods Market believes in being an active community member, requests from other civic and charitable groups will be considered if the organization is in the immediate vicinity of a store location, meets our core values, and funding is available. All donation requests must be submitted via our WFM Donation Request Form. Requests are reviewed approximately once a month and selected recipients are notified accordingly.
Please note, we do not donate foods to individuals, individuals seeking pledges, multiple requests from the same organization or organizations and/or causes. Each approved organization is restricted to one donation per year from any and all Whole Foods Market. Past support of an organization or an event is not a guarantee of future support.
In response to the incredible interest we’ve had from our communities for a gift card fundraising program, our non-profit and school customers can now purchase Whole Foods Market gift cards from Great Lakes. Here are the details:
- Qualifying schools and non-profits can purchase WFM cards at a 3% discount
- There is no cap, so organizations will not visit the site and find “sold-out” messaging
- To set up a program or purchase cards, simply fill out an enrollment form on Great Lakes website.

5% Community Support Day

At Whole Foods Market, we are active participants in our community. We are extremely proud of our community involvement and the relationships that we continue to make each month! We strive to make a difference.
Our Community 5% Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day’s net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days.

Bag Refund Donation Program
Each quarter, Whole Foods Market Bellevue selects three non-profits to be beneficiaries for our Bag Refund program. For each bag you re-use, you can claim a 10 cent deduction off your grocery bill, or you can choose to apply your refund to one of the non-profits listed at the register.
For information on participating in a 5% Community Support Day and Bag Refund Program, or for other donation requests, please click on one of the links above and email the completed application(s) and a copy of your charity’s 501c3 Not for profit letter from the government to the Marketing & Community Relations Team at pn.blv.donations@wholefoods.com.
