Community Giving
Whole Foods Market Supports Our Community
Whole Foods Market is a company with a conscience, we believe passionately in supporting the communities we serve. A percentage of our sales are used to benefit non-profit organizations on a monthly basis.
Our Community 5% Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day’s net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these designated days. Our 5% Days are planned far in advance and fall into themed categories, including Farms & Harvest, Environment, Hunger & Homelessness, and Education. If you would like to be considered for a 5% Day, please send information about your organization, along with a completed donation application form, to the Marketing Team Leader in the appropriate store.

Whole Foods Market Green Mission
Whole Foods Market composts our food waste by partnering with Converted Organics of New Jersey and Peninsula Compost of Delaware.
We cannot accept compost from customers due to sanitation issues. A local alternative is the Lower East Side Ecology Center, an organization we support by hosting compost workshops and through in-kind donations. Consider bringing your compost to one of their accepted locations : East 7th Street Community Garden between Ave. A and Ave. B or the Union Square Greenmarket.
