Community Giving

You Gotta Have Heart!

Our heart is in the community.  Did you know we were recently awarded the “Caring for our Communities” award on a national level from Whole Foods Market?  Did you know that we donate food to various shelters, food cupboards, and senior centers?  We are also most proud of the fact that we attend two area shelters for the homeless and serve foods inspired from the Engine 2 Diet book, by author, Rip Esselstyn.  That’s right, twice a month we feed 100 people beautiful and delicious plant strong foods!

At Whole Foods Market in Devon, we are happy to be an integral player in the many activities within our surrounding communities. If you are interested in receiving a contribution from Whole Foods Market in Devon, here are the necessary steps:

  • Request a donor form from Customer Service. Once you fill out the request, you will need to attach a copy of your organization’s 501 C3. Your application cannot be processed without the necessary documentation.
  • Return the form eight (6) weeks prior to the actual date of your event. Short dated applications cannot be processed.
  • Download Donation Application (pdf)

Recently we supported the following organizations in planning and executing community events:

  • Berywn Fire Company
  • Green Building Council
  • Tredyffrin Library
  • Main Line Animal Rescue
  • The Timothy School
  • Bryn Mawr Film Institute
  • Surrey Senior Services
  • Safe Harbor Homeless Shelter
  • Media-Providence Friends School
  • Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County
  • Baker Industries
  • Plus, lots more

Our Community 5% Days are another meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day’s net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days.

5percent

If you would like to apply for a grant for our 5% Day, you can request an application from our Customer Service. Once you have completed the entire grant process, return it to the store for consideration.

Our most recent 5% Day Recipients have included ConKerr Cancer, Camphill Special School, and Philabundance.  Our next 5% Day will occur on Tuesday, September 13.  Proceeds will benefit the Christina Pirello Health Education Inititative.

For any questions regarding any of the above information, email Charlene Nolan, Community Liaison at charlene.nolan@wholefoods.com.

And there’s also “Nickels for Non-Profits!”

This is a simple project for all of our shoppers to participate!  With the use of each “recyclable” bag you bring to shop with, we will give a nickel back to you…but, better than that, you can donate a “wooden nickel” to the designated charities listed at the “Nickels” display.  This is done on a quarterly basis.
