Community Giving
Please be advised that our current donation budget has been committed through December 2011. We will be reviewing any requests for events and sponsorships starting in January 2012.
At Whole Foods Market Georgetown, we are active participants in our community. We are proud of our community involvement and the relationships that we continue to make each month!
Due to the large number of donation requests we receive, we cannot respond to the status of your donation until the month before your event, and can only respond to those groups we are able to support. Phone calls in reference to donations under review cannot be returned.
Special Event Donations
We support local organizations which focus on health and human services, education, environmental preservation, hunger relief, the arts and animal compassion. However, each Whole Foods Market location has budgetary constraints and can only approve a limited number of the many donation request applications received. To be eligible to receive a donation from our store, you must be a local nonprofit, and a donation request form must be completed in its entirety with the required documentation at least 8 weeks in advance of the event date. No exceptions. Download Georgetown Donation Request (pdf) , fill out, scan, attach IRS letter of determination and e-mail back to fadia.jawdat at wholefoods.com.
Store Tours
Please consider giving us at least 2- 4 weeks to schedule a tour.
School groups cannot be larger than 20 children or students. Early morning hours are preferable and any tour normally could take 30 to 45 minutes in total.
Good Stuff From Around Here
We have supported local growers and producers since 1980. Buying local means supporting local communities, jobs, independent farmers and producers, it also reduces the distance from farm to plate, and lets you stay connected to the seasons.
Community 5% Days
Our Community 5% Days are a meaningful way to give back to our community. Four times a year on a designated day, a total of 5% of the day’s sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days.
We regularly review all incoming 5% Day applications to determine the next non-profit recipient. Selected organizations spread the good news by inviting friends, supporters and other members of the community to shop at the supporting Whole Foods Market on their 5% Day. During the 5% Day representatives from the chosen non-profit spend the day at the store sharing information about their organization and getting the word out about the 5% Day.
If you are interested in applying to become a 5% Day recipient, please Download 5% Day Application (pdf) and submit to the store’s customer service desk or by scanning the documents and e-mailing to fadia.jawdat@wholefoods.com
We are very proud of our continuing support of:
Arcadia Agriculture & Sustainable Foods, Farm to School, School Garden Week, The Farm at Walker Jones, and other initiatives led by DC Greens, Healthy Living, Inc., such as the Stoddert School Garden and the Jelleff Boys and Girls Club Healthy cooking classes.
