Community Giving

Whole Foods Market is a company with a conscience. We believe companies, like individuals, must assume their share of responsibility as tenants of Planet Earth. We believe passionately in supporting the Madison community and are actively involved by:

  • Supporting local food banks
  • Sponsoring community events
  • Donating goods and services to 501c3 non-profit organizations
  • Educating adults and children with interactive tours of the store
  • Hosting adult and child cooking classes

Since opening in 1996, Whole Foods Market Madison has donated over $315,000 to local non-profit organizations.

Community Support Days

Our Community Support (5%) Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day’s net sales are donated to local 501c3 non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days.

The last Community Support Day we held was on November 18, 2010 for Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, raising $3,741.65 to support their organization.

If your non-profit organization is interested in having a 5% day, please submit a completed Community Support Day Application to amanda.js@wholefoods.com.

Donations

We offer various donations to 501(c)3 organizations to help their needs and goals be met. If your non-profit organization is interested in receiving a donation, please fill out our Online Donation Form or  submit a completed Donation Application to amanda.js@wholefoods.com.

Please be advised that due to the large volume of requests that we receive, we require a minimum of 6 weeks advanced notice for any donation. Unfortunately, we can not honor every request and will only contact you if we can provide a donation for your organization.

Recent donations from our store have benefited: Arthritis Foundation, Wisconsin Chapter; Domestic Abuse Intervention Services; Heartland Farm Sanctuary; Madison Children’s Museum; Natural Step Monona; River Country RC&D; Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin; Sustain Dane; Wisconsin Public Radio

One Dime at a Time

Whole Foods Market Madison is delighted to announce our newest program to help our community partners raise needed funds. Our One Dime at a Time program provides an incentive to our customers to eliminate single-use plastic bags and develop stronger communities all at the same time. At the register, customers will have the option to receive a 10 cent per bag refund as cash back off their receipt or they can choose to donate it to that month’s selected charity organization.

Our One Dime at a Time recipient this January – March is the Whole Planet Foundation.

To be a beneficiary of our One Dime at a Time program, please submit a completed One Dime at a Time Application to amanda.js@wholefoods.com.

Art in the Cafe

Every two months, Whole Foods Market features the work an artist in our café and provide the opportunity to sell their work directly to the public. If interested in having your work displayed, please complete the Art in the Cafe Application and submit it to amanda.js@wholefoods.com.
