Community Giving
At Whole Foods Market we give back to the community in many ways, from product donations, to our Community Support Day and Dimes for a Difference Program and Scrip through Great Lakes. Please read on for more information on these programs.
In response to the incredible interest we’ve had from our communities for a gift card fundraising program, our non-profit and school customers can now purchase WFM gift cards from Great Lakes. Here are the details:
- Qualifying schools and non-profits can purchase WFM cards at a 3% discount
- There is no cap, so organizations will not visit the site and find “sold-out” messaging
- To set up a program or purchase cards, simply fill out an enrollment form on Great Lakes website.
Whole Foods Market has specific guidelines for the organizations we are able to support through donations. In addition to being a 501c3, you must fall must fall into one of the following categories:
- Environmental Preservation and Conservation
- Preventative Health Care
- Hunger Relief
- Organic Farming/Sustainable Food Resources
- Animal Compassion
Because Whole Foods Market believes in being an active community member, requests from other civic and charitable groups will be considered if the organization is in the immediate vicinity of a store location, meets our core values, and funding is available.
We do not donate foods to individuals, individuals seeking pledges, multiple requests from the same organization or organizations and/or causes. Each approved organization is restricted to one donation per year from any and all Whole Foods Market. Past support of an organization or an event is not a guarantee of future support.
At Whole Foods Market, we are active participants in our community. We are extremely proud of our community involvement and the relationships that we continue to make each month! We strive to make a difference.
Our 5% Community Support Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day’s net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days.
Thank you to everyone who came out on September 14th t0 support Vancouver Farmers Market! We’re proud to be donating $1932.05 to this amazing community organization!
We’ll be fundraised specifically to benefit their Harvest Dinner & Fundraiser on October 4th and scholarship funding to post-secondary students for the September 2011-June 2012 academic year. This funding is intended to support the education of students wishing to specialize in agriculture, agricultural marketing, and related topics and to encourage small-scale farming in the Pacific Northwest and the sale of farm products.
