WHOLE FOODS MARKET NAPLES PRESENTS CHECK TO THE NATIONAL MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY
On Tuesday, July 20, 2010 the Whole Foods Market presented The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) South Florida Chapter, with a check in the amount of $2,379.40 for funds raised during the June 30th 5% Community Giving Day Fundraiser. “Throughout the day customers approached the friendly NMSS volunteers letting them know that they, or someone close to them, are struggling with MS and that the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has been an excellent resource. It was heartening to see this organization working in the lives of our local patrons.” – Jessica Varnes, Marketing Specialist.
5% Day is a day during which a Whole Foods Market store gives 5% of store sales to a chosen nonprofit organization/community partner. Customers and local residents are encouraged to shop for their all-natural and organic products on this day to help raise funds for the each nonprofit selected. From 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Monica Whiting, Vice President of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, South Florida Chapter and Ryon Coote, Development Director were on-site to accept the check, meet and greet customers who helped to make this a possibility, and answer customers’ questions about their cause.
Fighting the crippling disease that affects over 6,000 South Floridians since 1953; the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has provided funds for research to find a cure while offering programs to enhance knowledge, health and independence for individuals in our community with MS.
The mission of the NMSS is to mobilize resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS, making them a precious partner in our community. The Whole Foods Market Naples is located at 9101 Strada Place in Naples. Telephone: 239-552-5100.
