Community Giving

Whole Foods Market Oakland is proud to serve our neighborhood by sponsoring community events and donating to local non-profits. Whole Foods Market is a company with a conscience. We believe passionately in supporting the communities we serve. Donation Options:

We offer four main types of assistance to local non-profit organizations.

In-Kind Donation: Please fill out our Online Donation Application here! This application is for all general donations, including product donation or items for auction. In kind donation deadlines are:   In-kind donations deadline for June is May 10th and commitments by Whole Foods Market are made by May 15th for all June donations. In kind donations deadline for July are due June 10th and commitments by Whole Foods Market will be made by June 15th for all July donations. We have a high number of donation applicants so if the deadline has passed, please contact us for your next event oppportunity.

Nickels for Non-Profits Donation: We offer all customrs 5 cents for every bag they reuse. They can choose do donate their bag refund to a designated non-profit organization through the Nickels for Nonprofits program. Our Current Nickels for Nonprofit recipient is the CTC International.

 5% Community Support Day: Four times per year, Whole Foods Market Oakland donates 5% of a chosen day’s net sales to a local non-profit organization. Our most recent 5% Days werefor OUSD – School Garden Program and Alameda County Community Food Bank!

Script Gift Card Program: Whole Foods Market Oakland partners with local schools and non-profits to provide a 4% discount on group purchases of gift cards to be sold as a fundraiser for the organization.

We cannot donate to political or religious organizations. A copy of your IRS Ruling letter verifying your non-profit 501(c)3 status must accompany each donation request. (Organizations that do not hold a 501(c)3 status cannot be considered.) Our Marketing Team Leader reviews each request. Last minute requests will not be accommodated.

Recent Recipients Include: Kidpower, Lafayette School Mentoring Project, Earth Island Istitute, Clausen House, Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park, GRID Alternatives, Lake Merritt Rowing Club, American Bone Health, WEE Poets and many more!
