Kids Club with Growing Cooks

What better way to get children to eat healthy foods than to teach them to cook healthy foods?  Whole Foods Market in Plantation is doing just that!  Each month our store hosts free Kids Club events to educate children about healthy eating and the joy of cooking.

Utilizing hands-on fun as an educational tool, Whole Foods Market is providing kids with lifelong skills that they can pass on to their friends and families.  Chef Frank Meoni of Growing Cooks, a local company that sells children’s cooking tools and supplies, has partnered with Whole Foods Market in Plantation for the past several months to teach kids that cooking can be fun.  In June the class had a great time rolling and stretching dough to make fresh Margherita pizza and this past Saturday  kids had a chance to try their hands at hummus and cream cheese roll-ups.

Tofutti generously donated a case of Nondairy Creme Cheese for the kids to use in their roll-ups.  It was greatly appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed!

Chef Frank will return again on Saturday, August 28 to teach kids how to make a homemade Stromboli that is perfect for your student’s school lunch.  Each child will receive their very own chef hat to decorate while the Stromboli is cooking in the Whole Foods Market pizza ovens.  There will also be an opportunity to win a free Growing Cooks apron, hat and rolling pin set.
