Community Giving

At Whole Foods Market, we are intimately connected to the health and economy of each community we serve, and feel it is our responsibility to give back to those communities in meaningful ways.

NICKELS FOR NONPROFITS: If you have shopped with us before, you know that $.05 is taken off your bill for every bag you bring in and reuse.  You now have the option to donate that nickel to one of two charities on your way out of the store.  If you are a nonprofit interested in applying, pick up a copy of our Donation Request Form at the Customer Service desk, and check the box for “Nickels for Nonprofits.”

DONATIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS: Whole Foods Market Plymouth Meeting contributes to a number of community events, fundraisers and non-profit organizations throughout the year. We donate to organizations whose goals most closely reflect Whole Foods Market’s mission and Core Values. Pick up a copy of our Donation Request Form at the Customer Service desk, or download a copy here. Forms must be filled out entirely and returned to the store at least 6-8 weeks prior to the event.

5% COMMUNITY GIVING DAYS: On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day’s net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these Community Giving Days.  5% Day partners are chosen each fiscal quarter. The application deadline is rolling and applications are kept on active file.

For consideration your organization must:

  • Be a registered non-profit with a valid Certificate of Exemption.
  • Complete a 5% Day Application and provide a copy of your 501c3 letter.
  • Be able to provide a consistent in-store presence on the 5% Day.
  • Work with Whole Foods Market to develop marketing strategies and in-store events to promote the 5% Day.
  • Not have been at 5% Day Partner with ANY Whole Foods Market stores within the past three years.
  • Submit a report of how 5% Day funds were used by your organization, and recognize Whole Foods Market’s contribution to your organization via appropriate venues.
