Community Giving
Whole Foods Market has an active community giving program. Each store location works with their surrounding neighborhood and that’s why it’s truly a local program. We provide donations to nonprofit organizations, schools and food banks. In addition to our local donation program we support a 5% Day. Four times a year a selected organization will partner with our store to receive a 5% of sales donation from that day.
Let us know how we can support your event or mission. We enjoy working with organizations that match our commitment to the environment, conservation, health and the arts. Items donated represent products from our store such as water, food, bodycare and catering. Unfortunately we do not offer cash sponsorships and cannot donate to political or religious organizations. Donation Request Applications and 5% Day Applications can be located below or at our Customer Service Desk. A copy of your IRS Ruling letter verifying your non-profit 501(c)3 status must accompany each donation request. Organizations that do not hold a 501(c)3 status cannot be considered.
Event Donations
Giving back to our community comes naturally. We strive to support local organizations which focus on health and human services, education, environmental preservation, hunger relief, the arts and animal compassion. We try our best to select organizations within our focus and within our budget and therefore only a few organizations will be selected a month.
To be eligible, you must be a nonprofit based in the NE, SE, SW, and the Logan Circle, Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, Shaw and U Street neighborhoods of NW. Donation Request Form must be completed in its’ entirety with the required documentation at least 8 weeks in advance of the event date. No exceptions. Due to the large number of donation requests we receive, we can not respond to the status of your donation, and can only respond to those groups we are able to support. Phone calls in reference to donations under review will not be returned.
If you would like to request a donation, please complete the Donation Application and return it to the Customer Service Desk located at the front of the store.
5% Days
Our Community 5% Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. Four times a year, 5% of the day’s net sales will be donated to local nonprofit organization. If selected, representatives will be required to be on hand to share their organizations mission and commitment with shoppers and to help bolster their 5% donation. We encourage the organization to actively partake in spreading the word through family, friends and through the media.
If you are interested in becoming a 5% Day recipient, please complete our application and return it via email, mail or to our Customer Service Desk. Applications will continually be reviewed up to one year from entry for one year.
