Community Giving
Good Stuff From Around Here
We have supported local growers and producers since 1980. Buying local means supporting local communities, jobs, independent farmers and producers; it also reduces the distance from farm to plate, and lets you stay connected to the seasons. We hope you will stop by and help us support our local growers.
LOCAL FARMERS MARKET every Thursday 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in front of our store May 3 – September 27, 2012. Buy fresh from the farm produce, baked goods, crafts and much more. All locally grown or made. Interested in becoming a vendor? Email our Farmers Market Manager, Jim Clark, at farmersmarketshortpump@wholefoods.com for an application.
At Whole Foods Market, we are active participants in our community. We are extremely proud of our community involvement and the relationships that we continue to make each month! We strive to make a difference.
Our Community 5% Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day’s net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days. We hold four 5% Days per year; one each under the following categories: Hunger Relief, Open, Environment, Children and/or Schools.
In addition to 5% Days, we have several opportunities for donation requests:
- Gift card/Gift basket donations
- Sponsorship of events
- Nickels for Non-Profit – customers can choose to donate their 5 cent bag credit to one of two local non-profits
Please let us know how we can support your event and the needs of our community. We enjoy working with organizations that match our commitment to the environment, conservation and health. We love hearing from new groups and how we can help your mission.
In addition to donations, we can also offer space for your Non-Profit to hand out information to help raise awareness about your group. Please email linda.thomas@wholefoods.com if you are interested in an information table.
Unfortunately, we cannot donate to political or religious organizations and to individuals. To request a donation, please fill out a Donation Request Form. Donation Request Forms can be picked up at our Customer Service desk. 5% Day applications are also available at our Customer Service desk. A copy of your IRS Ruling letter verifying your non-profit 501(c)3 status must accompany each donation request. (Organizations that do not hold a 501(c)3 status cannot be considered.) Donation requests must be turned in at least eight weeks in advance of an event to be considered. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate all donation requests. Due to the large number of applications we receive, only those organizations that have been selected for donations will be notified. If you have any questions, please contact our Marketing Team Leader & Community Liaison, Linda Thomas at linda.thomas@wholefoods.com
