Have you been thinking about focusing on a Healthier Lifestyle? The presentations and group discussions will be lead by Plant Based Nutritional Consultant Candice Schreiber (blog: www.thehealthyherbivore.com) and Whole Foods Market Team Members. ELLICSR – Community Support Day – Wed Jan 18
by jim.empey, January 12, 2012 | Permalink
Quarterly, we hold Community Support Days donating 5% of our sales to a designated non-profit. On Wednesday, January 18th, all three Ontario stores will be participating – donating to ELLICSR.
The ELLICSR Centre for Health, Wellness, and Cancer Survivorship is an innovative program of the Princess Margaret Cancer Program. At ELLICSR, researchers and those living with cancer come together to generate new knowledge in cancer survivorship and to develop and offer innovative self-management strategies for improved health and wellness.
ELLICSR programs are designed to improve the physical and emotional health of people living with a diagnosis of cancer by helping survivors gain self-confidence in their ability to control and manage the symptoms and long term effects of their illness and treatment. A comprehensive nutrition health and wellness program offers a full range of activities, including education, cooking demonstrations, and hands on classes by a culinary nutrition management expert (professional chef) and a registered dietician.
Taking control over one’s well-being through better nutrition, health and wellness is one way that survivors can play a more active role in their care. Increasing feelings of control may help to contribute to a patient’s improvement in overall health and reductions in secondary cancers, or cancer recurrence.
