Vanishing of the Bees Screening
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM | $5, Advance Registration is required
Whole Lifestyle Center

Known as Colony Collapse Disorder, this phenomenon threatens the loss of much more than honey as we depend on honeybees to pollinate one third of the food on our tables. Vanishing of the Bees chronicles the innermost thoughts and feelings of beekeepers and scientists as they fight to preserve the honeybee and make it through another day. Narrated by Oscar Nominee, Ellen Page and featuring author Michael Pollan, the film also presents a platform of solutions, encouraging audiences to “bee” the change they want to see in the world. John Timmons, local area beekeeper will be present to conduct a Q&A session following the screening. John began his career as a beekeeper along with his wife, Jane, when they wondered why they saw no honey bees in the gardens.  A further investigation led them to their local beekeeping club … and the rest is history. John began his beekeeping career in 2006 with a couple of hives in his St. Charles backyard.  Since that time, he has expanded his hobby to include more hives, more bees and a greater understanding and appreciation of the honey bees and how they impact the world around us. He is co-founder and past president of Three Rivers Beekeepers, a large beekeeping organization with some 300 members based in St. Peters, Missouri.  He is current vice-president of the Missouri State Beekeepers Association and a frequent speaker on the subject of honey bees and beekeeping to groups throughout the area.
