5-Step Animal Welfare Rating System in our Meat Department

We’ve chosen to join forces with the Global Animal Partnership, a non-profit organization dedicated to continually improving the lives of farm animals raised for meat, to encourage better animal welfare practices. They have developed the 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating™ that ranks how pigs, chickens and cattle are raised. Ratings for other species (turkeys, lamb, and others) are in development, so stay tuned. Look for this rating system when you choose our beef, pork or chicken. We accept plastic bags, cork, batteries, cell phones and CFL lightbulbs in our customer recycling center located near the exit of the store.  And now, we are proud to collect #5 (PP) plastic - a strong, lightweight food-grade plastic commonly used to make containers for yogurt, margarine, sour cream and cottage cheese – as part of the Preserve Gimme 5 Program.  Preserve is the maker of performance driven and stylish household products including toothbrushes, razors, tableware and their award-winning Preserve Kitchen line.
