Green Mission

Recycling at Willowbrook!
The Green Mission Team here at Whole Foods Market Willowbrook is leading the charge to make being green easier than ever. You can drop off the following recyclables in our Recycling Center and Café. Thank you for recycling!

Recycling Center
Located in our exit foyer
Ink Cartridges
Ink cartridges are donated to our environmental partner SCARCE, who in turn sells them for a small fee to an organization that reuses and recycles them.

Eye Glasses
Eye glasses are donated to LensCrafters who donates them to Gift of Sight Optical Missions. Gift of Sight offers free eye exams and recycled glasses to the poor in 20 developing countries including Bolivia, Costa Rica, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Panama, and the Philippines.

Cell Phones
Cell phones are donated to our environmental partner SCARCE, who in turn sells the phones for a small fee to an organization that refurbishes them for 911 use which go to the elderly and women in situations of domestic abuse.

Plastic Bags & Light Bulbs
Drop your plastic bags and light bulbs (traditional and fluorescent) and we will send them off with the plastic and bulbs we recycle in our daily operations.

Cork ReHarvest
(Two Locations: Recycling Center & Specialty)
Whole Foods Market has partnered with Cork ReHarvest in a cork recycling program so that shoppers can recycle their natural wine corks. Recycling helps to reduce demand placed on cork plantations while maintaining the delicate ecosystem of the Mediterranean forests and helps thousands of producers to maintain a sustainable income to support their families.

Café
Gimme5
Whole Foods Market has partnered with Preserve in recycling #5 plastics, which are not accepted in most curb side recycling programs. Look for the #5 recycling symbol on your yogurt, margarine, carryout, hummus, and cottage cheese containers, or any other container stamped with the #5. Preserve upcycles the #5 plastic into toothbrushes, storage containers colanders, razor handles, and table ware that we sell here in our store.

Plastic, Glass, Cans and Paper
Our recycling bins in the café are set up for single stream recycling, where all the items can  co-mingle. To help make the most of the recycling program, we request that containers  with liquid or chunks of food be emptied into the landfill bin before recycling. Soiled  paper/paperboard is not accepted in the recycle bins and should go in landfill bin.

We appreciate your efforts to recycle when dining in our café!

Greenware
At Whole Foods Market we have made a commitment to reduce our impact on the environment! Our reusable green plates and bowls are another opportunity to make a difference!
· They are completely reusable – even better than recyclable or compostable.
· Their extra weight is deducted from the weight of your food.
· You receive a dime credit when you check out.
· Food taste better on real plates!
