Blueberry Dessert Sauce
Serves 6
Time 15 min
This delightfully simple sauce dresses up a slice of angel food cake or a scoop of ice cream. For a twist, add a sprig of fresh thyme when you set the blueberries to simmer.
Special Diets:
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 pint fresh blueberries (or other berries, or mix of berries)
Method
In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 3/4 cup water. Bring to a boil and stir to dissolve sugar.
Add half the blueberries and continue to boil for 5 minutes.
Use a potato masher to break up the blueberries. Work carefully and wear an apron.
Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for another 5 minutes.
Add remaining blueberries, take from the heat and set aside to cool. Sauce can be covered and chilled for up to 3 days.
