Pineapple braised in its own juice creates a memorable (and super simple) dessert. Star anise and ginger infuse the braising liquid, which reduces to a thick syrup.

Method
In a large high-sided skillet, combine pineapple juice, star anise and ginger; bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Add pineapple slices, reduce heat to medium-low, cover and cook, stirring several times, until pineapple is very tender, about 30 minutes.
Uncover and transfer pineapple slices to a serving platter.
Increase heat to medium-high and bring braising liquid to a boil.
Cook, stirring frequently, until reduced to a syrup, about 3 minutes.
Pour over pineapple to serve immediately or chill until ready to serve and enjoy cold.
