Kimchi Burgers
Serves 4
Time 30 min
Topped with pickled cabbage, melted cheese and a mixture of smoky barbecue sauce and sour cream, these burgers are the perfect excuse to fire up the grill.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pound lean ground beef, shaped into 4 patties
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup light sour cream
- 1 tablespoon prepared smoky barbecue sauce
- 4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 head butter lettuce, separated into leaves
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 4 whole wheat or sesame seed hamburger buns, split and toasted
- 1/2 cup prepared kimchi (Korean fermented cabbage), at room temperature
Method
Prepare a grill for medium-high heat cooking.
Season burgers all over with salt and pepper.
Meanwhile, stir together sour cream and barbecue sauce in a small bowl; set aside.
Grill burgers, flipping halfway through, until cooked to your liking, about 10 minutes for medium.
During the last few minutes of cooking, top each burger with a slice of cheese.
Arrange lettuce and tomatoes on the bottom half of each bun and then top with burgers, reserved sauce and kimchi, and serve immediately.
