Brie en Croûte
Serves 8 to 10
Time 40 min
Melty, gooey Brie wrapped in crispy puff pastry is an unforgettable dessert or appetizer. We love to serve it with fig spread for its tamed sweetness and crunch from the seeds, plus Champagne or a semi-dry Riesling.
Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 14 ounces frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 (400.0-gram) wheel Brie
Method
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a small bowl, whisk 1 egg and 1 tablespoon water to make an egg wash.
Lightly brush edges of pastry with egg wash. Bring the edges of the puff pastry up and press them together to seal the dough. If you have any excess dough, you can cut a leaf or other decoration to add to the top of the Brie. Brush each piece with egg wash to help them adhere.
Brush the entire pastry with egg wash.
Bake until pastry is golden brown, about 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool 5 minutes before serving.
