Cranberry Chutney

This sweet and spicy accompaniment to your holiday turkey stands out from the other standard cranberry sauces. It's particularly great when spread on turkey sandwiches, too.

Ingredients

    12 ouncesfresh cranberries
    1/4onion, chopped
    1 cupsugar
    1 tablespoongrated fresh ginger
    1/2 teaspooncayenne pepper
    1/4 teaspoonground cinnamon
    1 teaspoonground cardamom
    1/4 teaspoonfine sea salt
    1/4 cupchopped pecans, lightly toasted

Method

Combine cranberries, onion, sugar, ginger, cayenne, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt in a saucepan. 


Cook over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes, stirring constantly. 


When cranberries start to pop, remove from the heat. 


Allow to cool slightly and stir in pecans. 


Let chutney come to room temperature. 


Cover and refrigerate up to 2 days before serving.
