Serves 4
Time 40 min
Loaded with meatballs and topped with fresh mozzarella and basil, these family-friendly subs are ready in 30 minutes, start to finish!
Special Diets:
Ingredients
- 12 prepared meatballs
- 4 whole wheat sub rolls or hot dog buns
- 1 cup prepared marinara sauce
- 8 slices fresh mozzarella
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
Method
Preheat oven to 375F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Bake meatballs on baking sheet until heated through, about 13-16 minutes.
Carefully place buns on the hot baking sheet and lay one slice of cheese on the inside of each bun (this will help prevent the bun from getting soggy), then top with meatballs.
Spoon sauce over meatballs, cover with remaining cheese and bake until cheese is melted and subs are hot, about 10 minutes.
Garnish with basil and serve.
