Easy Red Lentil Mac-and-Cheese

Add creamy red lentils to simple boxed mac-and-cheese to give the weeknight favorite extra protein and a slightly nutty flavor. The lentils cook together with the pasta, so prep and cleanup are especially easy! Watch our how-to video.

Ingredients
- 1 (6.0-ounce) box macaroni & cheese
- 1 cup red lentils
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup lowfat (1%) milk
- Pinch fine sea salt
Method
Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil.
Add pasta and lentils and return to a boil.
Cook until lentils and pasta are tender, about 10 minutes. Drain well.
Return pasta and lentils to the pan and stir in butter, milk, the contents of the sauce packet and salt.
Continue to stir until blended and warmed through.
