Kimchi Burgers

Topped with pickled cabbage, melted cheese and a mixture of smoky barbecue sauce and sour cream, these burgers are the perfect excuse to fire up the grill.

Ingredients

    1 1/2 poundslean ground beef, shaped into 4 patties
    1/4 teaspoonfine sea salt
    1/4 teaspoonground black pepper
    1/4 cuplight sour cream
    1 tablespoonprepared smoky barbecue sauce
    4 slicesMonterey Jack cheese
    1/2head butter lettuce, separated into leaves
    1 largetomato, sliced
    4whole wheat or sesame seed hamburger buns, split and toasted
    1/2 cupprepared kimchi (Korean fermented cabbage), at room temperature

Method

Prepare a grill for medium-high heat cooking.


Season burgers all over with salt and pepper.


Meanwhile, stir together sour cream and barbecue sauce in a small bowl; set aside.


Grill burgers, flipping halfway through, until cooked to your liking, about 10 minutes for medium.


During the last few minutes of cooking, top each burger with a slice of cheese.


Arrange lettuce and tomatoes on the bottom half of each bun and then top with burgers, reserved sauce and kimchi, and serve immediately.
