The secret to the "perfect" burger isn't in the seasoning; it's in the beef! At Whole Foods Market, our hamburger meat is ground fresh, butcher-style in each store. We select only muscle meat and follow strict handling guidelines to ensure its quality. The best beef makes the best burgers!

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 8 small buns
- 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 4 leaves romaine or green leaf lettuce
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Method
Prepare a grill for medium-heat cooking.
Divide and gently shape the meat into 8 small patties.
Season with salt and pepper.
Grill meat to desired doneness, about 4 minutes per side for medium.
Meanwhile, brush buns with olive oil and grill just until lightly toasted, about 1 minute.
Dress burgers with lettuce, tomatoes and onions and serve.
