Smoked Salmon and Crème Fraîche Lemon Pasta

There will be plenty of time for romance this Valentine's Day if you make this simple yet delicious pasta for your sweetheart. Shallots, crème fraîche and lemon zest come together for a surprisingly flavorful sauce made even better with bite-sized pieces of smoked salmon.

Ingredients

    8 ouncespenne pasta
    1 tablespoonextra-virgin olive oil
    2shallots, thinly sliced (about 1/2 cup)
    1/3 cupcrème fraîche
    1/4 teaspoongrated lemon zest
    1/4 teaspoonfine sea salt
    1 package (4-ounce)smoked salmon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
    2 tablespoonschopped fresh chives

Method

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. 


Add pasta and cook until al dente according to package directions. Drain well.


Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat until hot. 


Add shallots and cook until tender and golden, about 8 minutes, stirring. Remove from heat. 


Add drained pasta, crème fraîche, lemon zest and salt to skillet and toss until coated. 


Fold in smoked salmon and chives and serve.
