Sweet, Spicy and Simple Steamed Shrimp

This recipe is a gift for the cook who's entertaining a crowd. The shrimp can be cooked and peeled up to a day in advance. Simply chill them afterward until ready to use.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon finely ground bay leaf
- 1/2 teaspoon powdered mustard
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 2 pounds medium shell-on shrimp
- Lemon and lime wedges
Method
Put chili powder, paprika, cayenne, bay leaf, mustard, oregano, salt, pepper, sugar and coriander into a small bowl and stir well. Set aside.
Place steamer basket in pot with water just touching bottom of basket.
Cover pot and boil water.
Add shrimp and sprinkle with spice mixture.
Steam shrimp, covered tightly, for 5 minutes or until firm and cooked through.
Serve with lemon and lime wedges.
